Indie pop artist Brandon Hilton has been on the music circuit for quite some time, releasing unique and infectious club offerings such as "Glamour Zombie" and "
Dance Til I Die" while working hard to find the right, radio-friendly formula to claim a successful hit record. His new single, the second off his upcoming
Dark Prince album, definitely keeps him on the right path.
Wrapped tightly in layered EDM production, Hilton's new "
Wet" featuring Swedish producer D-Tention falls in line with most of the artist's catalog as he sings of making listeners sweat on the dance floor with his seductive banger. The highlight of the new release is easily the explosive power of its chorus, one that even Britney Spears would salivate over. It's catchy, it signals a thumping good time and does not take itself too serious. Just let go and dance.
"
I wanna get you wet, wanna make your body sweat, I'll get you on the floor, like you're taking you're last breath," Hilton sings on pulsating dance effort. The artist has never encountered difficulty when it comes to creating a contagious hook, however, the new single does not come without some room for improvement.
While production is a shining beacon for the the release, it does begin to reach the point where it unfortunately overshadows the vocal performance from Hilton. Never a good thing. The artist has a decent singing voice, but there seems to be something lacking on the delivery. This, paired with some missteps in terms of songwriting and progression, keeps "
Wet" from reaching its true potential.
Hilton is a talented independent artist. While "
Wet" may not be the greatest pop/dance track you will hear this year, it shows tremendous dedication and passion. The single is a huge ball of fun, it's tailored to be an enjoyable experience that will remain on repeat for a few hours and make you... well, sweat. It's a good tease of what Hilton has cooking up for his next full length album.
